David E. Rogers, 75, of Fortville, passed away on February 17, 2026. He was born in Geneva, New York, to Harry and Alice Rogers. When David was four, his family moved to northwest New Jersey, where he grew up alongside his siblings.
David graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in accounting. He began his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving in New York City for one year and in Philadelphia for three years. In 1977, his journey led him to Fortville, where he accepted a position with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis—a role that began his long connection to the community he came to love.
After settling in Fortville, David formed a deep and lasting bond with the Chaulk and Billie Brown family, who “adopted” him as one of their own. He became an active member of Fortville Christian Church, faithfully serving and growing in his walk with Christ. After retiring, David followed the Lord’s prompting to move to Knoxville, TN, where he attended Johnson Bible College to deepen his faith and understanding of God’s Word.
David’s joy overflowed through the passions God placed in him. He found beauty in capturing God’s creation through photography, tending gardens that blessed others with fresh produce, sharing meals prepared with love, and painting vibrant oil works that reflected the creativity of the Creator he loved so deeply.
David is survived by his two younger sisters, Judy Lew and Linda Rogers Smith; his former brother‑in‑law, Frank Lew; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved adopted Indiana families: Jerry and Evelyn Brown; Mike and Lou Ann Brown; Janet Strauch; Todd and Elisa Davidson and their children, Charolette and Zoey; Jaclyn Fisher and her children, Calliope, Braden, and Remington; and the Don Browning family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Phil Rogers.
